Waltz with Peggy Leiby & Ret Turner
Basics & Beyond Workshop:
Tips, Technique & Intermediate Level Variations
6pm - 7pm
Half the dancers on any pretty much any floor - even some who have been waltzing for years - can benefit from basic technique instruction. In this workshop, Peggy will cover the basics of the traditional turning style waltz: footwork, partnering, leading and following, and understanding the structure and rhythm of waltz music.
The course is also suitable for those who know the box-step waltz, but want to learn the versatile and popular turning style. Intermediate-level waltz flourishes will be included toward the end of the workshop with live musical accompaniment.

Run of the Mill (Palmer Loux, Greg Loux, Paul Sidlick & Tom Schaffer) is an old-time southern Appalachian string band that has been preserving and performing some of the best traditional American music you can find for well over 20 years. Fiddle, banjo, guitar and upright bass comprise the usual configuration of the band, but you'll sometimes also hear two fiddles, fretless banjo, mandolin, banjo-mandolin, steel-guitar, banjo-guitar, archtop guitar, and maybe even some singing. Regardless of configuration, they strive to maintain the tradition of the music, while at the same time, making it their own.
