On Sunday, February 9th from 3 - 5:30pm, the Ottsville Traditional Arts Center presents:
Traditional Music Workshop with Jane Rothfield
“Learn how to play better by ear and add that ‘fiddle’ sound to your playing! This afternoon workshop will focus on helping musicians learn to play traditional fiddle music better by ear and also how to add musicality and rhythm. I will work with the group and individuals during the class to give you the tools, techniques and ability to play traditional fiddle music and make it sound ‘fiddley!’ My method uses a combination of visual, aural and physical methods and techniques that give quick and long lasting results. In addition to a lot of playing, we will be doing some singing to help us play better. My motto is “if you sing it like you want to play it, then you will play it like you sing it!” I do not use written music so everything will be taught by ear. Come prepared to listen and play! We will learn 1-2 tunes that are common in the Old Time Fiddle repertoire-if there is time, we will learn some chords to help back up the tunes, and maybe even some harmonies too!"
Sunday, February 9th from 3 - 5:30pm $35 early registration $40 registration at the door $10 for kids under 12 Enrollment is limited to 20 people, so scroll down to register now and secure your spot! |
